Amtrak "Heritage" P42DC 66 leads the National Train Day display train at Los Angeles Union Station on May 12, 2012. In two days, Amtrak 66 will be coupled behind Santa Fe 4-8-4 3751 (sitting on track 11, just to the left) for the steam locomotives trip to northern Arizona. Union Station is a busy place these days, as evidenced by the construction of a new platform for Track 13. |

A 1950s vintage Cadillac, and a 1945 REA truck, were brought out to add to the retro atmosphere around Santa Fe 4-8-4 3751 on Track 11. Meanwhile, on Track 12, Amtrak "Heritage" P42DC 66 wears an old Amtrak scheme, although that is of a much more recent vintage than the others. |
