In two days, Amtrak 66 will be coupled behind Santa Fe 4-8-4 3751 (sitting on track 11, just to the left) for the steam locomotives trip to northern Arizona. Union Station is a busy place these days, as evidenced by the construction of a new platform for Track 13. |

A 1950s vintage Cadillac, and a 1945 REA truck, were brought out to add to the retro atmosphere around Santa Fe 4-8-4 3751 on Track 11. Meanwhile, on Track 12, Amtrak "Heritage" P42DC 66 wears an old Amtrak scheme, although that is of a much more recent vintage than the others. |

Running nearly 5 hours late, Amtrak #3, the "Southwest Chief", arrives at Fullerton, California, on May 26, 2012. Three of the 13 cars in this train are Amtrak business cars (10021 "Pacific Cape", 10031 "Ocean View" and 10001 "Beech Grove"). Its been a long (and apparently slow) trip from Chicago, but after Fullerton the next stop - Los Angeles - is the last. |
