SFRC 56531
Think of refrigerator cars, and most railfans first think of Pacific Fruit Express, the joint venture of Union Pacific and Southern Pacific. But for some of us, the Santa Fe's large fleet of refrigerated equipment comes to mind. For me, these bright orange cars with blue doors, and the icicle Mechanical Temperature Control (MTC) logo were among my favorite freight cars. SFRC 56531 was spotted in Fullerton, California, on November 24th, 1972, and this Rr-96 class car was only a few months old, having been built in the Santa Fe's shops the previous June.
