SP 6902 - Ravenna, CA - 7/15/73
SP SD35 6902 suffers an electrical fire as the train waits in the hole in Soledad Canyon west of Palmdale, CA on July 15, 1973. The crew never noticed the smoke pouring out of the second locomotive, and had to be alerted by the foamer whod stopped to photograph their train. No wonder the railroads hate railfans so much!

Bernie Feltman General I hope the unit was shut down before they started to spray water 7/2/2010 11:44:18 AM
Jerry Sires General Looks like a Ward LaFrance judging by the windshield. 12/25/2010 5:58:39 AM
David Cenci General Waiting to see "Squad 51" to show up.. 1/17/2011 7:33:59 PM
Alan Fricker General Not much of a fire if they are only pulling the booster line off. Engine 80 is a Ward LaFrance, and was one of 10 engines ordered by LA County. The 11th engine, an add-on to the order, was for Paramount. It became Engine 51 in the series. 2/24/2012 10:10:18 PM
