BNSF 10 |
Description: |
At dawn on a cold December 17, 2011, a warm glow can be seen inside BNSF dining car #10, the "Lake Superior" in the roads B Yard in San Bernardino, California. Elsewhere on this train, volunteers are hard at work preparing the train for the annual Southern California Christmas Train. The dining car staff will have breakfast ready soon, and after the first trip carrying excited children to the Summit of nearby Cajon Pass and return, the staff will have lunch ready for the crew and volunteers before making a second trip duplicating the first. |

BNSF 10 |
Description: |
An interior view of the dining room in BNSF Railway dining car #10, the "Lake Superior", which can seat 48. Built in 1958 by Budd for the Northern Pacific (as their number 459). Following the merger of the Burlington Northern in 1970, the car was renumbered 1293. It somehow escaped being sold to Amtrak, and was later renumbered B-2 and named "Lake Superior". Remodeled in 1982, it was again renumbered by BN to BNA #26, and then in January 1999 the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway renumbered it once again to BNSF #10. |
