Description:  BNSF Railway 170 was built by EMD as a GP60B (ATSF 347), but was recently rebuilt with a cab (donated from Union Pacific SD40-2 3751) into a "regular" GP60. The unit is seen here at Mid America Car in Kansas City, Missouri, have just been painted into full BNSF colors. Note that the model designation on the sill calls it a GP60M.

Description:  BNSF Railway train B-LACLAC3-11 (a baretable train that operated from Hobart Yard near Los Angeles to Fullerton, where it picked up the cars, and back) leaves the triple-track mainline at Commerce, Califonria, on November 11, 2016. BNSF 170 is the former BNSF 8711, originally Santa Fe 4011 (and not to be confused with the other BNSF GP60 170, which has since been renumbered to BNSF 200), and the other is BNSF 169, still wearing the colors of a previous owner, the Vermont Railway (it is ex-BNSF 168, ex-HLCX 7700, ex-VTR 381, ex-HLCX 7700, nee-Texas Mexican 869).

Description:  An ignoble end for St. Louis - Southwestern (Cotton Belt) GP60 9680 - Built by EMD in March 1990, twenty years later the cab is all that remains at Midwest Locomotive. In that time, the engine went from the Cotton Belt to Union Pacific (as their 5782, 1983 and, finally, 2095) to the scrap heap.

Description:  A short westbound Santa Fe freight, which most likely originated in Barstow, sits on the First District’s mainline at Ono as it awaits its turn to enter the nearby San Bernardino Yard. ATSF GP60 4025, GP30 2774, GP20 3029 and GP39-2 are powering this train, proving that in southern California it wasn’t only the SP and UP that could assemble diverse locomotive consists!
