Description:
As Amtrak train #21, the Chicago IL to San Antonio TX Texas Eagle is serviced in Fort Worth, Trinity Railway Express commuter train #2923 (Union Station [Dallas] to T&P Station [Fort Worth]) accelerates out of the citys ITC (Amtrak, TRE, Greyhound and transit bus) station on October 17, 2011. TRE F59PH 126 was recently rebuilt, repainted and renumbered. Originally owned by Torontos GO Transit, the engine was later sold to TRE, where it retained its original number - 568.

Description:
Trinity Railway Express trian 2924 has just departed Fort Worths ITC station (combined Amtrak, TRE, Greyhound and transit buses). Just north of the station, the mainline passes through a building, creating a man-made tunnel. TRE F59PH 126 is shoving on the rear as the train heads from Fort Worth to Dallas on October 17, 2011.

SCAX 851 - Fullerton, CA - 6/14/92
Description:
The local railfan community turned out on June 14, 1992, to see Metrolink F59PH 851 lead a test train through Fullerton, California, on its way to Oceanside. Regular service would begin later that year. Still a popular hangout for foamers, Fullertons station looks a bit different now - triple track (that locomotive storage track on the left is now another mainline), a pedestrian overpass, a nicer brick platform (though the nice lawn is gone as a result), more attractive lights, a café ... and those ugly, spiky trees are long-gone!

Metrolink train 656 accelerates out of a scheduled stop at Orange on its way to Oceanside, California. On the headend today is F59PH 860, one of two units (and the only F59PH) painted in the new scheme. This is the third paint scheme worn by the 860 since it was first painted by EMD in July 1992 for delivery to Metrolink. (The first passenger car is one leased from Salt Lake City's Utah Transit Authority pending delivery of Metrolink's new Korean-built cars.)

Amtrak train #860 is scheduled to operate from Oceanside to San Bernardino. But on June 26, 2010, the train originated in San Clemente due to some major track work being performed north of Oceanside. Here we see train #860, with F59PH 869 on the point (and MP36PH-3C 892 on the rear) running about a half-hour late as it crosses the mighty Santa Ana River, and also crosses from Orange into Anaheim (as the river also serves as the city line).

AMTK 193
Description:
Amtrak #4, the "Southwest Chief," loads passengers at Fullerton, California, the trains first stop after departing Los Angeles on July 27th, 2012. Lead engine 193 (a GE P42DC) is in need of a new paint job - as is the third engine, F59PHI 464. The 464, which is assigned to the "Pacific Surfliners," is heading east to Beech Grove for maintenance - all the "Pacific Surliner" power will be cycled through Beech Grove this summer. In the background, on Track 4, is Metrolink F59PH 873 on a trainset that arrived as train 643 and will depart as train 642. These trains are shuttles that operate between Fullerton and Laguna Niguel / Mission Viejo, 28 miles to the south.

SCAX 800
Description:
While preparing for the next day's display, crews repositioned Metrolink F40PH 800 and F59PH 873, and that necessitated uncoupling the two locomotives. Once the angle cocks on the train lines were closed, F40PH 800 (originally Amtrak 396) backed away from the 873, the couplers released and the hoses stretched - until one pair of MU hoses, pulled as taught as possible, finally separated with a loud whoosh of air. Photographed at the moment of release, the effects of the sudden burst of air, disturbing the accumulated dirt and dust on these engines' pilots, creates a small cloud at the hoses' ends. Almost immediately, the other pairs of hoses followed suit, and the sound of all the briefly rushing air demonstrated why the crew was wearing ear plugs.
