LAMTA 109 |
Description: |
A Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority train of P865 cars rounds the curve at 1st Street and Pine Avenue in downtown Long Beach as it begins its trip to 7th Street / Metro Center near downtown Los Angeles. This is the MTAs "Blue Line," the first line built in MTAs light rail system, opening in 1990. These are the original "Blue Line" cars (though no longer in their original paint), built by Sumitomo/Nippon Sharyo in 1989. |

For the most part, the "Blue Line follows the last operating Pacific Electric line - the PEs Long Beach line ceased operations in April 1961 (and I am an old enough codger that I remember riding it!). |

Description: |
A Los Angeles MTA Expo Line train, headed west to the La Cienega station, travels down Flower Street in downtown L.A. This section of track, near the Staples Center, also sees trains from the original LAMTA light rail line, as the train it just met is a Long Beach to Los Angeles Blue Line train. |
