Title:
CP 2860 - Kern Junction, Bakersfield, CA - 3/29/77
Description:
In early 1977, the former Canadian Pacific “Royal Hudson” owned by tke province of British Columbia made a trip to California to promote tourism in beautiful BC. On March 29th, the Southern Pacific pilot had climbed into the cab of the streamlined 4-6-4 at Bakersfield. Shortly, a clear signal will allow the train to leave Santa Fe rails and, at Kern Junction, and begin its run over the Southern Pacific as the Tehachapi Mountains are crossed. The train will arrive at its final destination, Los Angeles, before sundown.

Title:
CP 2860 - Russ, CA - 3/29/77
Description:
"Royal Hudson" 2860 is a former Canadian Pacific 4-6-4 owned by the province of British Columbia. In March of 1977, the streamlined engine and its train - which normally operated on the British Columbia Railway out of North Vancouver, BC - headed to California in order to create interest in tourism to the Canadian province. The train is seen here on March 29th heading through Russ, in Soledad Canyon, on its way to Los Angeles. (I have no idea what the person in the baggage car is throwing off the train, other than it appears to be blue...)
